This blog used to be a report from my 1 year long US adventure. So if you're interested in information about the exchange program, please scroll down to the archive and pick the time period September 08 - May 09. I might upload some post to sum up my wonderful experience (and I really want to finish the NYC story, some day), so, if you want more, stay tuned!

Hello Japan!

After an awesome week back home in Prague, which could be considered as a break, I took a plane again, this time in the other direction: over the vast plains of Siberia to the Japanese Islands. And, believe or not, I`m here in Kyoto having a time of my life again.

No surprise, everything is different here and everything is great. With one exception, the fermented soybeans. The food is delicious and not expensive. You can buy sushi at a convenience store very cheap. The bakeries here are unbelievable. Japanese people are very very nice and polite. The shinkansen trains are very fast. The architecture is great, both the ancient shrines and temples and the modern architecture as well. Streets are very clean. The cars are usually white or silver, maybe black sometimes, but no colors. They have two different types of toilets: on top of the list is the advanced western type, with tens of different buttons, you can only guess what each button does. On the bottom is the Japanese type, similar to a Turkish type, not every time equipped with soap nor toilet paper.

The last day in Kyoto is ahead of me, tomorrow we`re moving to Tokyo for the rest of the trip. If you want to see what is it like to be in Japan, please follow my picasa japanese photo set, I'm trying to upload couple pictures every day.
